Blackcurrant bud (Ribes nigrum) France
In Côte d’Or, it is in the heart of winter that the buds of the blackcurrants are harvested because frost guarantees the quality and stability of the harvest. The frozen leaf buds are taken to our extraction facility, respecting the cold chain, where they are treated with a volatile solvent to produce a concrete. The first step towards the absolute is the extraction with ethanol from this concrete. It gives off a fruity and animal smell.
