Cistus Ladanisferus
In Portugal in the Alto Alentejo region, we work with our local partner on the collection of Cistus Ladanisferus twigs and their distillation as part of the assembly of a sustainable sector that respects the resource and its environment until the choice of processing techniques.
This plant from the Mediterranean basin is very present in arid areas with acidic soils. The Guadiana Natural Park allows these pyrophytic plants to grow and regenerate abundantly after fires. After flowering in April/May and to better withstand the heat, the plant is covered with a fragrant gum called Labdanum. The twigs are distilled with water vapor in the distillation unit near the collection areas to produce a fully traced and certified organic cistus essential oil.
